Kansas

When we first moved to Kansas from California almost three years ago, there were a lot of things that were totally crazy to us. Here are just a few that I've been thinking about again today:

The bugs here are huge, crazy and like nothing I grew up with in California.

And the spiders... so enormous I'm scared to squish them.

Almost no one has a fence around their yard. I guess this is a Midwest thing. You'd never see this in California.

The people taking your order through the crackly speakers at drive-thrus are college students who speak English as their first language so you understand them super clearly.

A ton of people smoke. It's banned all over in California, so not run into as frequently as here.

Everyone has a dog that they drive around wherever they go.

Because we're in a college town, we see the latest trends... you know, the type you see the models on the runway wearing but you don't think anyone in real life would ever wear it. They do if they are a sorority girl.

Eww, big bugs and spiders? Ick!!

Fences are not big in the northeast either. I myself really like a fenced in yard! :)

I never realized how much people smoked until we lived in Cali for a while and then went back to other places...Vegas is the worst!!!! But even in Texas, there is still a smoking/non-smoking section in all restaurants - which is just to the silliest thing ever!!
